Why do college photography courses still make you use a film camera?

I can’t believe the number of Photography courses which still want you to shoot black and white film and develop it yourself.
I have no objection to b&w and all it entails but time should be spent on composition and exposure, not mixing chemicals.
Digital, with its instant feedback and dirt cheap cost-per-shot, is the all-time killer photography teaching tool.
Why would educators not see this?
the answer is obvious to trained potographers.

composition is easy, exposure is best learnt by understanding zones as per ansell adams and black and white is the best teacher.

as for mixing chemicals it takes only reading the bottle and mixing with water – takes about 30 minutes to do it not an entire course

What kind of gardening book should I get her?
My mom hasn’t really ever gardened before. Last year she tried, but didn’t get into it much. We are into the whole organic Foods thing so I thought we should garden to save some money on all the produce we buy. Do you know of any good gardening books for beginners like my mom?
If Square Foot Gardening is still available, it’s a great book for beginners! Not overwhelming at all. There was also a book called something like lasagna gardening……fun but if you don’t have access to the stuff, probably not practical. Gardening for Dummies………?? No offense, just they usually break it down into simple sections.
If you are in the US you can contact your Cooperative Extension Service in your county. They have gardening brochures that may be helpful. Also they have the Master Gardeners, trained volunteers to answer your (many) questions. That’s their job.
How to convince recruiters about a career change to Corporate Finance?
I am an Industrial engineer and want to make a move to Corporate Finance, one of the questions I get most often is why do I want to make such a career change and how I see myself fit into this role ? or justify how you can do well in Corporate Finance role despite your non finance background?
I am currently enrolled in a full time MBA program and planning to take Finance courses but I want to know how I can really sell myself on this idea ?
You need to find a hiring manager that will take a chance on you. Avoid head hunters or recruiters. They are looking for easy, no-brainer, matches. They are usually a step up from used car salesmen in my opinion.
You may need to take a cut in pay to make this happen. I made a career change in IT from one technology to another and I was able to find a manager that took a chance on me, but I had to take a 20% cut in pay. At the time, I had no mortgage or kids and I was able to do it without it seriously impacting my lifestyle.

This is a free response question for AP Environmental Science. I already did calculations to find that washing dishes by hand actually requires more energy (in BTU’s) than washing dishes using the electric dishwasher.
Here is my thesis statement: Although many people believe the electric dishwasher uses more energy than washing the dishes by hand, it is much more energy efficient to wash dishes using an electric dishwasher.
You’re correct, an energy efficient dishwasher generally uses less water and less energy than a typical hand-washer, although if you’re obsessive about washing dishes with a minimum of energy it is possible to beat the dishwasher in water and energy use. Of course, you’ll be using a lot of your own time to do so.
Modern dishwashers are designed with several features that make them particularly efficient, including smart sensors to figure out when there are no longer large Food particles in the water (‘Smart Wash’), heater in the dishwasher to heat the water to a higher temperature, which requires less soap and washes more effectively, allowing you to lower the temperature in your hot water heater to a more efficient and safer temperature; and ability to wash dishes that start off extremely dirty, so you don’t have to prerinse anything but the filthiest dishes.
A study done in the EU (described in the article linked below) found that most people used more hot water and/or soap than a typical dishwasher, when given a standard set of dishes to wash.

How do fashion designers forcast fashion and how many season ahead do they do it for?
I just wondered how fashion designers etc do this. I am curious as I hear about it all the time but wanted more information.
they are the ones who create the Fashion, they design the trends. it’s high street brands and people in advertising who do the forecasting, based on what the lovely designers give them.
they normally design a two seasons ahead. but they only come out on the catwalks one season before.
so the spring/summer collection will come out in winter. but the designers will be on the next autumn/winter collection.
